Ziricote is one of the most popular, visually strikingly exotic trees in the world, known for its "landscape" or "cobweb" fibers. Its colors range from medium to dark shades of brown (occasionally green or purple) and are highlighted by mixed bands of unpredictable, irregular black growth rings. Sapwood is easily distinguished by its matte almost white to pale yellow hue. Although it is quite dense wood, Ziricote is excellent for woodworking and carving, as well as handles for knives, furniture and cabinets. It works very well and finishes well to high gloss. The corpses in the photo are smeared with polish for better protrusion of the pattern.
